The energy industry finds itself undergoing a global transformation to meet the vast array of challenges and opportunities. At Intel, we believe that the right technology can enable a smarter, modernized grid, one founded on connectivity, reliability, and cyber security. This year, Intel is a Platinum Sponsor at  Transmission & Distribution/Smart Grids Europe, co-joined with Metering, Billing/CRM Europe and Smart Homes. The three events and the co-hosted exhibition will take place on the 9th -11th October 2012 in Amsterdam.

Technology innovation is leading global transformation and this is particularly true for the energy industry. Hannes Schwaderer,Director of Energy Sector EMEA at Intel believes that “electricity is the backbone of our society, of our industry. If electricity fails a lot more fails. So, there is no way around smart grids”.

What you may not be aware of is the role Intel play’s today within the Energy industry. Together with McAfee and Wind River, Intel wholly owned subsidiaries, Intel is developing architecture and technology that optimise security, scalability, and dependability. For example, ICT building blocks that bridge traditional IT and operations, transforming data into knowledge, and enabling utilities to advance the intelligence and integration of their IP-based grid at the speed of value.
As today’s grid transforms to meet the needs of the future, we believe the promise of a modernized smart grid hinges on ensuring the requisite connectivity, reliability, and cyber security from generation and transmission to distribution and consumption of electricity.

We look forward to meeting many of our customers and partners at the event this week, to explore further ‘Intel in the Grid’ and to discuss with them the multitude of business opportunities out there as this industry transformation accelerates across the globe.
