By February 22, 2013, young entrepreneurs can submit their projects for Intel Business Challenge Europe 2013 – a competition aiming to select innovative products, smart technologies, interactive mobile and online applications. In order to take part in the competition, one can register on the project’s website at www.intelchallenge.eu, and send an abstract –description of their idea. The winners will take part in an intensive coaching program, the European finals in Dublin, and the global finals in Silicon Valley.
The competition is addressed to students or recent graduates (up to four years after graduation) between 18 and 34. The contest aims to search for innovative products, smart technologies, and interactive mobile and online applications in such fields as medicine, energy, people and society, biotechnology, and nanotechnology.
The competition is divided into three stages:
- At the first stage, until February 22, 2013, the participants register on the project’s website at www.intelchallenge.eu, where they submit abridged descriptions of their projects (abstracts);
- 200 best ideas from the entire Europe will enter the second stage. Their authors will be asked to create business plans and a short video presentation (elevator pitch). An international jury will select 24 projects for the finals;
- The third stageis the Intel® Business Challenge Europe Finals, which will take place in Dublin between June 17 and June 20, 2013.
This year’s European finals are planned as an official event accompanying EuroNanoForum 2013. ENF 2013 is an official event organized as part of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Gathering more than 100 participants, the conference is organized jointly by Enterprise Ireland and Spinverse under the auspices of the European Commission, Directorate General for Research and Innovation. This year’s edition of the conference focuses on commercialization in nanotechnology.
In order to make it easier for young entrepreneurs to create the required documents, they are provided with professional tools, such as an e-learning course or video consultations with an international group of experts.
The twenty-four best projects will be selected for the third, final round of the competition. Their authors will be invited to participate in the European finals in Dublin, where they will prepare to defend their ideas in front of an international jury through coaching sessions with business professionals and scientists. The five winning teams will travel to Silicon Valley (California) to compete in the Intel Global Challenge finals in October 2013.
The project is organized by Intel. The company is also the sponsor of the prizes. The project’s strategic partners are the European organization Junior Achievement Young Enterprise and INVESTIN High Tech Foundation.
All the competition details are available on the project’s website at www.intelchallenge.eu and its facebook profile.
