Intel launches European digital CSR report 2011


                     Intel Corporation today launched itsEuropean digital Corporate Responsibility Report 2011. The report highlights the company's focus on applying its technology to create and extend computing technology to connect and enrich the lives of people around the world, with a focus on Europe. The Global Report details the steps that Intel has undertaken worldwide in support of its global vision and objective to “care for our people, the planet, and inspire the next generation” and is available to view online, here.

The report also discusses the actions Intel continues to take to further embed corporate responsibility into its culture and decision-making, from providing funding for innovative employee sustainability projects to linking a portion of employee compensation to environmental goals.

Key highlights from the report include:

  • Inspire the Next Generation: Driving economic growth and improving social conditions including the health of local economies, therefore inspiring innovation through skilled workers and a healthy technology ecosystem. In 2011, the Intel Teach Program reached the milestone of 10 million teachers trained worldwide, including more than 1.3 million of them from 19 European countries.

  • Care for the Planet: A focus on improving the energy-efficient performance of our products and collaborate with others to develop innovative ways that technology can help address long-term sustainability challenges. In 2011, Intel launched the Intel Energy and Sustainability Lab in Ireland, designed to drive research into technologies that will enable a high-tech and low-carbon future.

  • Care for Our People: Investment in significant resources to develop the talent we need to keep Intel at the forefront of innovation, including building a strong engineering pipeline and recruiting top talent, and offering career development and work/life programs that make Intel an employer of choice. In 2011, Intel invested approximately $299 million in employee training and development. In addition, Intel employees donated over 1.1 million hours of service last year.

  • Integrated Value Approach: Intel’s instrumental impact of the IT industry and business in Europe, particularly in the areas of wired and wireless broadband access, healthcare, energy efficiency, and effective deployment of information technology.
