Intel Announced Reference Design for IoT-Ready Vending at Venditalia 2014, the most important fair dedicated to the vending market in the world.
The vending industry is undergoing a digital makeover, and adding intelligence to machines can make the vending experience more personal, interactive and fun for consumers while allowing brands and operators to utilize new business opportunities, cloud services and data analytics. However, many machines lack the computing power, connectivity, security, manageability and ease of reprogramming needed to support advanced services like interactive touch screens and contactless payment methods. To simplify the task of upgrading the computing power of vending systems, Intel developed the Intel Reference Design for Intelligent Vending [link to fact sheet]. The Intel Reference Design for Intelligent Vending contains hardware and software components to provide a fast and easy recipe for re-architecting traditional vending machines into highly-capable, IoT-ready machines. The reference design is being showcased on May 7th 2014 at the VendItalia exhibition in Milan, Italy.
